Overview

Thermia works without a Thermia account. It stores app data locally and, when iCloud is available, syncs the specific data described below through Apple's iCloud and CloudKit services. Data can also leave the device when you enable Apple Health, use TestFlight feedback, or choose to contact support.

Data stored by Thermia

Thermia may store the following information to provide app features:

  • Mug name, identifier, model, firmware information, and connection state.
  • Temperature, target temperature, battery, and liquid-state readings.
  • Presets, schedules, temperature history, drink sessions, caffeine estimates, and app preferences.
  • Pending commands used by companion features such as Apple Watch.

iCloud and CloudKit sync

When you are signed in to iCloud and iCloud is available, Thermia automatically syncs the following data through the app's private CloudKit database:

  • Presets: name, target temperature, icon, favorite status, color, caffeine estimate, beverage type, sort order, creation time, and temperature-curve steps.
  • Mug schedules: linked preset, target temperature, time, selected weekdays, enabled state, and creation and update times.
  • Completed drink-session summaries: start and end times, preset and beverage labels, peak and average temperatures, caffeine estimate, duration, and reading count.
  • Temperature readings from the most recent 30 days that belong to a synced drink session: timestamp, current and target temperatures, liquid state, and battery percentage.

Thermia also syncs selected preferences through iCloud key-value storage: temperature unit, appearance mode, accent color, selected mug variant, empty-mug mode, the target-on-slider setting, and Home-screen text and spinner presentation settings.

Stable identifiers, update timestamps, installation identifiers, and deletion records needed to reconcile synced data may accompany those records. Thermia currently syncs deletion records when you delete a preset or mug schedule so that removal can propagate.

Live Bluetooth connection state, mug name and hardware identifier, firmware information, pending Apple Watch commands, support messages, TestFlight feedback, and Apple Health records are not included in Thermia's CloudKit sync.

Bluetooth

Thermia uses Bluetooth to find and control compatible Ember mugs. Bluetooth communication occurs locally between your Apple device and your mug. Thermia does not use Bluetooth to track your location.

Apple Health

Apple Health support is optional and write-only. If you enable it, Thermia can write a caffeine entry that you confirm after a completed drink session. Thermia does not request Apple Health read access and does not import Health records into the app.

You can review or revoke Health permission through the Health app or iOS Settings.

Support, diagnostics, and TestFlight

Thermia does not automatically send diagnostics to the developer. If you choose to contact support, the information you include may contain app version, device model, OS version, Bluetooth state, and mug state.

During beta testing, TestFlight feedback may include screenshots, comments, crash information, app version, build number, device and OS details, and tester contact information when available. Apple processes that feedback under its own terms and privacy policy.

Export and deletion

Thermia can export supported data such as temperature history and drink sessions. Removing Thermia deletes its local app database and settings from that device, but does not by itself delete data already synced to iCloud or copies on your other devices. Bluetooth key material stored in Apple Keychain may remain according to iOS Keychain behavior.

Tracking, advertising, and children

Thermia does not track you across apps or websites, sell your data, or use advertising tools. Thermia is not designed for children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Independent app and policy changes

Thermia is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Ember Technologies, Inc. Ember is a trademark of its owner. This policy may be updated as Thermia changes; the effective date above will change when material updates are made.
